When you just can’t stand staying home another moment, we at Sandcastle Condominiums are here to tell you that the beaches of Port Aransas await and the Easter holiday is the ideal time to explore their wonders. Easter may not be the most popular of traveling holidays, but we are already near the end of the first quarter of 2024, and life is too short to color inside the lines. This guide to the top ways to enjoy your Texas Easter celebration in our Port Aransas hometown will help give you many plans for your first getaway of 2024, and even if you have already enjoyed some travels this year, we can promise that none will compare to the adventures you will find in Texas.

The Best Time to Visit

If you love crowded beaches, long lines at restaurants, and traffic jams at rush hour, visiting Port A during the summer months will bring you your idea of the perfect vacation, but if not, spring is when you really want to be here. The temps are in the 70s, the waters are beginning to warm, and when the sun rises over the Gulf of Mexico, life is just about as perfect as it can be. Sunrise services are a common way to celebrate the Easter holiday, and whether you have awakened so as to enjoy a virtual service from your hometown church or are just so excited about starting the day, there is no better way to begin your celebration than with a walk along the sandy shores at sunrise, watching the world come alive around you.

You Will Love Brunch

Easter brunch is a popular way to celebrate the holiday and although their brunch doesn’t offer the first name of Easter, we can promise that the Sunday brunch at Tortuga Saltwater Grill will make your taste buds sing. Serving southern favorites such as shrimp and grits, our favorite southwestern dish, Migas (made with eggs, pico de gallo, corn chips, chorizo, jack cheese, avocado and a lot of love) and scrumptious Port A versions of eggs benedict, whatever meal you order can be washed down with Bloody Marys or mimosas.

But What About the Eggs?

We can almost hear your children asking the question above, but have no fear. Although we aren’t seeing any information about public egg hunts at the moment, your Sandcastle Condominiums cozy hideaways will have plenty of spots for hiding the colorful eggs you boiled and dyed in our kitchens and dining rooms the night before. Balconies with seating looking towards the sea may offer nooks and crannies just perfect for an egg, and, of course, the interiors are spacious, providing even more.

And the Basket?

The Easter Bunny, with a little help from you, won’t forget about the all-important Easter basket, one that you can fill with a visit to Winton’s Island Candy. If you follow us, you have probably heard us mention this sweet spot before, but we think it is worth repeating, and when you walk in its doors for the first (or the 100th) time, we think you will agree. Painted the color of mint chocolate chip ice cream, every available surface is covered with candies from decades past and the most popular of today. Winton’s is also a great place to pick up some gifts for the folks back home—perhaps some saltwater taffy, the perfect addition to a beachy vacation.

Have We Forgotten Anything?

Brunch, hunting eggs, and the Easter basket have all been covered, as has the sunrise over the Gulf, but what about spending the day at the beach? The weather’s beautiful, the water’s warming up, and quite frankly, there is nothing more delicious than a ham sandwich enjoyed at the seaside! Grab your pastel-hued swimsuit, flip flops, and a cooler filled with snacks and beverages, and celebrate this laid-back holiday communing with nature. There’s nothing more luxurious than a day of sun, sea, and sand, and your Easter celebration will be that much brighter because of it.
