Living the Beach Life
The first thing you will probably notice during your fall visit to Port Aransas is that there really isn’t much difference between the seasons. Yes, there will be a drop in temperatures (albeit a small one), and yes, the days will be shorter as the sun sets earlier, but if you have been dreaming of a beach vacation, you won’t have to wait until next year. A fall day at the beach is the best day at the beach and as you and your family relax under the warm smile of our Texas sun, frolic in waters that are still warm enough to splash in, and maybe walk along shore’s edge at sunset or sunrise, you will discover the only way you want to spend a fall vacation day from here on out.
Take a Hike at the Port A Nature Preserve at Charlie’s Pasture
Summers can be steamy in this part of Texas, and we often will limit our outdoor activities in Port Aransas to ones that include a pool or the Gulf. Once fall hits, however, the cooler mornings and evenings convince us that we want to spend more time outside doing other things including a hike through the Port Aransas Nature Preserve at Charlie’s Pasture. Offering a paved trail that leads hikers through salt marshes, the glimpses of wildlife you will see during your hike will amaze you and may even include the sight of dolphins frolicking in the water out in the distance. If you aren’t one for hikes, but love a good stroll, we guess we should come clean and admit the winding trails offer no gain in elevation and are so easy even toddlers can navigate them, making your hike feel more like a gentle stroll!
It’s Beachtober!
It’s a poorly kept secret that we wait all year for Beachtober to arrive, and if you are planning to visit during the month, you will understand why. Beachtober is an entire month of fun and excitement, offering a variety of events and of course, the Taco & Margarita and Swet Traditions Trails, both offering special discounts and creative incarnations of the classic dishes, drinks, and desserts that we love so much! Shoptober hits the middle of the month, and our local shops will be offering some fantastic deals on their merchandise. There will be live music at a variety of venues, Glynn’s Beach Run held on October 25th, and a town-wide celebration of the month overall!
It’s Tuna Time
There is always something biting in Port Aransas, and in the fall, tuna reigns supreme. Charter a deep sea fishing expedition—Dolphin Dock and Deep Sea Headquarters are two excellent companies—and set out to sea to enjoy a day of deep water, big fish, and pleasant weather. It is so nice that the temperatures have dropped, ensuring you will be more comfortable as you drop a line and sip the day away. Dolphin Dock offers snacks and sandwiches as well as beer, sodas, and water, while Deep Sea Headquarters also adds hard seltzer and Gatorade to their list of beverages.

We do things a little differently when it comes to farmers markets in Port Aransas, offering ours on just one day every year, and in 2025, that day happens to be October 26. Attending a farmers market is a great way to stock the kitchen of your Sandcastle Resort Condominiums seasonal sanctuary, providing farm-to-table goodness that moms will feel good about serving their kids. Also offering fresh baked goods, meats, and a variety of other things, timing your visit to Port A with this farmers market will be an excellent idea.
