Winter is over and the first signs of spring may have sprung in your hometown making you long for even more sunshine, beach days, and perhaps an Easter getaway to Port Aransas. We at Sandcastle condominiums think that’s a great idea, there is so much to see and do here and since Easter falls on April 20 this year, it will be warm and almost summer-like and we thought we would share some Easter fun with you. This guide to planning a Texas Easter escape to Port Aransas will ensure that every minute of every day is filled with sunshine and warmth and because you chose Sandcastle Condominiums for your holiday hideaway, all the comforts of home.
Pack Light
The best vacations start with the first piece of clothing we pack and with temperatures in April reaching the high 70s, you can pack your lightest clothing. Tee shirts, shorts, something nice to wear to Easter brunch, and, of course, your swimsuit. You might want to bring a jacket to guard against windy nights when you are walking on the beach, but nothing heavy will be needed. But what about the things you won’t need to pack? We know that not many companies will tell you what you shouldn’t bring on vacation, but we like to provide a well rounded service for our guests. Families don’t need to bring the Easter basket, Easter treats, or Easter trinkets to fill those baskets, because: A) baskets don’t travel well; B) kids are nosy and could figure out your alter ego from just one unauthorized peek; and C) Dollar General will have everything you need, including the basket, the grass, and little trinkets to put inside it. You could go to Winton’s Island Candy if you want to elevate your candy choices and Fly It Port A offers a selection of kites, puzzles, and toys that your littles will be thrilled to receive.
Sunrise on the Beach
Waking at sunrise is normal at Easter, but this year, you get to add sandy beaches, a roaring surf, and an extra helping of serenity during your Port A vacation. If you aren’t an early riser but have the urge to check out what you’re missing, you can view the beauty of sunrise from the balcony of your Sandcastle Condominiums cozy escape and you won’t even have to change out of your pajamas. Simply roll out of bed, grab that jacket you packed (mornings can be chilly) and slide open the doors that lead into the night. There’s a quiet peace that can be found in these pre-dawn moments and as you sit in the chair you’ve claimed as your own watching the sky cycle from midnight purple to gray to pink and then to all the colors of the rainbow before settling on a blue so bright it will make you smile, you will feel closer to nature than ever before. When the show is over it will still be early, so go ahead and crawl back in bed for a couple more hours of sleep before starting your Easter adventures in earnest.
Tortugas Saltwater Grill, 429 Alister Street, Easter Brunch
Many local restaurants will be open for Easter on April 20th, but only one has advertised an Easter Brunch that will change the way you celebrate. Tortuga Saltwater Grill has been our go to favorite for Easter brunch for many years and this is no exception. Offering a menu of traditional holiday favorites, interspersed with a selection of their regular brunch menu items, ensuring that everyone will find the dish of their dreams and no one will leave hungry. Making mom happy that she doesn’t have to cook during yet another holiday is another benefit gained from eating brunch at Tortugas.
Back to the Beach
Even if it is a little too chilly to swim, some time spent at the beach is always the answer and as you lounge on the sand, walk along shore’s edge, or brave the chilly waters you may be wondering to yourself why it took so long to arrive at the decision that an Easter in Port Aransas was a good idea. And we bet you didn’t know that every minute spent on the sand adds 10 minutes to your life span, or at least that is what we believe, and we are sure that you will agree!
