The end of summer is always a sad time as we start our back to school shopping, put our flip flops away and dig out our closed toe shoes from the back of the closet, and start preparing our minds for the chaos of the fall holiday season that begins not long after Labor Day weekend ends. The silver lining around this doom cloud, however, is the realization that there is one last blast of summer to be celebrated with a Port Aransas Labor Day weekend getaway and a stay in our Sandcastle Condominiums holiday hideaways. Summer lingers in Port A, and this guide to all the ways you can celebrate and relax will ensure that you are ready to face whatever the new school year has in store for you!

Labor Day Concert at Palm Plaza, August 30 at 6:30 PM, 132 Palmilla Beach Drive
Is there anything that goes better with a summer night than a live outdoor concert? Providing joy as the stars begin to light up the night sky, this year’s performers will be local favorites Timber Wilde and Max Stalling, both giving a country twang to your Labor Day celebration. No coolers are allowed at this fun end-of-summer event, but never fear, you won’t go thirsty as there will be drink vendors selling your favorite beverages. Let the music speak to your soul as you dance in your seat and sing along to all the songs. The chaos of real life isn’t that far off, but we can assure you that this one perfect moment in time will make you forget everything but the music!
A Day at the Beach
In our humble opinions, you won’t have properly celebrated the holiday if you don’t spend at least one day (and evening) on the white sand beaches of Port Aransas. And whether you spend that day lazing under the umbrellas and drinking tropical drinks or discovering all the wonderful ways there are to play in the surf, ending your day in paradise with a bonfire on the beach is highly recommended.
Yes, Labor Day weekend is when you will get to experience the activity you may have thought only happens in the movies, and as long as you follow the 3x3x3 rule (fires must be no larger than 3 feet deep, 3 feet wide, and 3 feet high) and fully extinguish your flames before returning to the comforts of your holiday hideaway, you can enjoy the magic of a bonfire on the beach with the sounds of the surf playing background music!
No Le Hace Sailing Adventures, 3500 Island Moorings Parkway Slip 401
There are a lot of boat tours that can be enjoyed in Port Aransas and they are all wonderful companies, but there is something special about No Le Hace Sailing Adventures, and that something would be the sailboat aboard which you will be enjoying the sunset, the sea, or if you are hanging around for a while, quite possibly a multiday sailing adventure. The latter is certainly an adventure you will never forget, but if you don’t have the time, the sunset sails and 3-hour tours offered by Captain Aaron and his graceful lady, No Le Hace will certainly offer a nautical experience you can brag about for years to come. No more than 6 passengers can partake in this activity, Coast Guard Rules, so larger traveling groups may want to enjoy a sunset cruise offered by larger boats (not sailboats) such as what can be found in the Scarlett Lady or Woody’s Last Stand.
FINS Grill & Icehouse, 420 W Cotter Avenue
A seafood dinner and water views make a meal at FINS Grill & Icehouse one of our favorite things to do at any time of the year, including the big holiday weekend. Offering a seafood-centric menu filled with delicious and locally sourced meals, your favorite meal may be the “you hook ‘em, we cook ‘em option, where they cook your ready-to-grill fish that you caught during an early morning fishing adventure off the jetties (another popular Labor Day activity!) Also offer land lubbers delights, not everyone is fond of seafood, this popular restaurant will live on in your memories long after you have returned to real life.
