We can pretty much guess that the first words out of your children’s mouths when you told them about your plans for a Christmas in Port Aransas were something along the lines of “But what about Santa?” There is no doubt in anyone’s minds that the jolly old elf is their favorite part of the holiday, and we at Sandcastle Condominiums want to ensure that there are no fears, no worries, nothing that could tarnish your white sand Texas Christmas. This guide to where to visit Santa during your visit to Port Aransas will add to the magic of a Christmas that promises to be as peaceful as it is exciting and as colorful as the beach sands are white!
Sand Santa, December 1 through January 3, Roberts Point Park
Ok, so it’s not the in the flesh, living and breathing Santa you may have been thinking about when you first started reading this, but Sand Santa at Roberts Point Park is a whimsical tradition that adds an element of fun to the very important business of making requests of Santa. Created entirely from sand and water by the most talented of sand sculptors, the selfie pics taken with Sand Santa in the background will be a talking point on your social media sites and will help build the anticipation of waiting to meet the real St. Nicholas!
Illuminated Saltwater Christmas Parade, December 5 in Aransas Pass
It is our humble opinion that you can never experience too many parades, and the Illuminated Saltwater Christmas Parade is the first of three wonderful area processions. This one involves a road trip and a ferry ride, adding to the magic of the adventure, because it is located in Aransas Pass. Offering colorful floats, marching bands, local celebrities, and the man of the moment, Santa Claus, pulling the anchor position, this all-American parade should be all you need to get into the spirit of the season, especially as it offers yummy food, delicious drinks, and photo ops with Santa, but if it doesn’t work, just remember there are two more tries ahead of you!
City Holiday in the Park, December 7, Roberts Point Park
Our Port Aransas residents look forward to City Holiday in the Park all year long, and when you and your family attend you will understand why. Offering the second of our parades, a playful and fanciful golf cart parade feature golf carts decorated with Christmas lights and a few fun inflatables, it also features everything that makes Christmas exciting for your littles. And by that we mean the chance to sit with the whiskered fella and tell him their hopes, dreams, and Christmas wish lists! There will be holiday games, delicious treats, and even as Santa is very busy this time of year, he shows patience and good cheer with every good little boy and girl.
Lighted Boat Parade & Holiday Drone Show, Port Aransas Fisherman’s Wharf, December 14
Christmas grows ever closer, the excitement is building to a fevered pitch, and on December 14, the third and final parade of the season takes place, only this one is on the water, offering additional magic as the lights that shimmer on vessels of varying sizes will be reflected in the dark waters below. A contest with cash prizes encourages the captains of these vessels to go all out, and as their helper elves dance on decks, Christmas music plays loudly, and the night grows darker, Santa promises to make one last appearance, either on boat, on land, or even in the sky, before he heads back to the North Pole to begin the final preparations for his busiest night of the year. The Santa in the sky won’t be on a sleigh led by reindeer, however, as this one appears in the colorful holiday drone show that takes place at the conclusion of the lighted boat parade.
